“That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.”
Nehemiah 7:2
A faithful man is a man of integrity.
And a man of integrity is a dependable person. Faithful people are scarce, very scarce like the essential commodities of the early 80s in Nigeria when citizens were in desperate need and search for basic items like detergent, bathing soap and milk but to no avail.
What is faithfulness?
To me, I see faithfulness as a rare quality of loyalty, dependability and steadfastness. It’s a quality of remaining committed to your word, promises, pledges and vows, no matter what. Come rain, come shine, a faithful man will be resolutely dedicated to a cause or a person. Faithfulness pays because it’s a major requirement for promotion and advancement in life. Men and women who have been proven to be faithful over little things are potentially programmed for elevation to higher office or positions. What earned Hanani and Hananiah’s promotion was their faithfulness and fear of God.
Let’s consider 3 factors that will spur you into faithfulness:

  1. God is a faithful God
Faithfulness is a great quality of God. The God of heaven and earth can never be unfaithful to you. He’s ever committed to all His promises. He’s not a man that should lie or engage in deception! Are you a child of God? Then embrace a lifestyle of faithfulness.
  2. A faithful person earns the trust of others. The Bible says, “A faithful witness will not lie but a false witness will utter lies.” (Pro 14:5)
Do you tell lies? You are not faithful if you utter lies. Period! No one will trust a liar! Do you want to be trusted? Then live a life of faithfulness. Make it a culture to be faithful.
  3. A faithful person is a refresher of life. The Bible says, “As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.” (Pro 25:13)
It pays to refresh the soul of your bosses or superiors at work. Do you want to abound with assorted blessings? Then embrace faithfulness today. It does not pay to be unfaithful.
If you are married, be faithful to your spouse! If you are working in an organisation, display high-level faithfulness. Let your superiors and colleagues know you for integrity. And as you do your work with a sense of faithfulness, you are preparing yourself for promotion.
I decree and declare that you shall be empowered with grace to cultivate the quality of faithfulness to reap dividends abundantly in Jesus’ name!
    Yours sincerely,
