“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
The truth is that our true rest can only be accessed via God, as true rest cannot be found in people, places or through pills. In the passage under review, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ made a profound invitation to us, inviting us to come and enjoy or experience His rest. Do you know that true rest or peace is not a human achievement but a divine gift? It takes the God of rest to give rest!
It takes the Prince of Peace to give peace! It takes an experience or relationship with Christ to enjoy His rest. Do you know that only Jesus Christ can truly harmonize our body, mind, and soul? Do you know that we can stretch our tired bodies on a bed but still have our minds and souls troubled? We sure need His rest! If God rested, you too must rest! In Genesis 2:2-3, we are told that God blessed the seventh day and made it a holy day. He made it special because on that day He rested from all the work He did while creating the world.
What is divine rest?
Divine rest is the supernatural internal peace that enables us to maximize our purpose and potential in life. Without divine rest, we can easily cross over into frustration. What is Frustration? It is a feeling of dissatisfaction often accompanied by anxiety or depression, resulting from unfulfilled needs or unresolved problems. Jesus wants us to keep our eyes fixed and focused on Him so we can trust Him to the point where our heart is at rest while we are waiting for the full manifestation of His promised rest.
To enjoy divine rest we must:
1. Be strong in the Lord!
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and the power of his might.”
Ephesians 6:10
2. Be strong in faith!
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Ephesians 6:16
3. Be strong in the Word
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
Ephesians 6:17
I decree and declare that you will enjoy divine rest in Jesus’ mighty name!
Yours sincerely,
Joe Jesimiel Ogbe
