Lessons from my QuietTime:
Understanding Capac
“And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.”
2 Kings 4:7
Capacity building is a serious business! Until we take life seriously, life will not take us seriously! God is a God of capacity! He will not bless us beyond our capacities. He knows what we can carry at a time. He knows what we can handle per time. If we want more from Him then we must engage in capacity-building.
In this passage under review, the widow was the one who caused the stoppage or cessation of her miraculous oil due to lack of capacity. If she had had more empty vessels, she would have become a major distributor of oil, but she limited herself by the few vessels she provided. If she had more vessels, she would have created a greater capacity and opportunity to receive more. And by receiving more, she would have become a greater blessing to a greater number of people.
3 ways to build your capacity:

  1. Think big
The widow was limited in her thinking! Just imagine if she had expanded her mind to think of becoming a blessing to more people. We are all products of our thoughts. The Bible says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
    Proverbs 23:7
Physical limitation is a function of mental limitation! In her mind, she limited herself by thinking she needed money just to pay her debts, nothing more!
    Begin to think enlargement!
Begin to think big about how you will impact nations, not just your family.
“Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and the left, and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”
    Isaiah 54:2-3
  2. Expand your vision
A limited vision will limit the flow of oil. Imagine if the widow had seen the vision of becoming a major oil magnate; she would have gone the extra mile to gather more empty vessels. If you don’t want your capacity-building strategies to perish, then you better expand your vision. The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”
    Proverbs 29:18
Ask God to broaden your horizon, to see beyond the current level.
  3. Training
“… he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.”
    Genesis 14:14
If you hate training or capacity-building you will not be able to take delivery of your portion in life. Abraham did not call on angels to intervene. He simply engaged his trained servants to retrieve what the enemy had stolen. If you despise capacity-building, then you have disqualified yourself from the throne. The truth is that some thrones or positions will never be accessible to you, except if you have the required training. Why not decide to improve or sharpen your skills for your anticipated promotion, expansion or enlargement? The reason why some people can’t expand in their business is that they are untrained. Embrace a lifestyle of training and re-training!
I decree and declare that you will command results via capacity building in Jesus’ mighty name.
