Lessons from my QuietTime:
Value
“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Hebrews 6:12
We are enjoined to become imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Faith and patience must go hand in hand.
What is patience?
It is your ability or capacity to stay calm, to tolerate delay or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. Abraham waited for 25 years to have his promised son! People who have a disposition for hurry, haste or rapidity can never be patient! Farmers know the value of patience. They know how to wait for their valuable crop to grow and produce a harvest. They are never in a hurry!  The Bible says, “So wait patiently, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits [expectantly] for the precious harvest from the land, being patient about it until it receives the early and late rains.”
James 5:7 AMP
Do you also know that even nature promotes patience? Without any help the ground produces grain. First, the plant grows, then the head, and then all the grain in the head. When the grain is ready, the farmer harvests it. The Bible says, “For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest comes.
Mark 4:28-29
In this passage, we can deduce 3 stages:

  1. The blade stage
  2. The ear stage
  3. The full corn stage
The easiest way to miss your harvest is to denigrate or despise each stage. Each stage is crucial to your overall harvest. The blade stage is key to the ear stage. You can’t jump from the blade stage to the full corn stage! No farmer has ever seen a huge tree with beautiful fruits overnight! It takes time to see fruits. Yes, fruit is your goal for planting your seed, but you must wait patiently for it. You can’t eat the fruit the same day you plant your seed. No tree overnight has the most beautiful flowers. The Bible tells us, “He hath made everything beautiful in his time…”
Life is in stages! Whatever stage you find yourself in, try by all means to maximize that stage even as you wait patiently for the next. Don’t be in a hurry! Don’t be in a haste to achieve results! People who are in a hurry to be rich will be punished. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.”
    Proverbs 28:20
I decree and declare that your patience will procure a great harvest in Jesus’ mighty name.
    Yours sincerely,
