“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he …’
Proverbs 23:7
We are not poor because we are created poor. No! We are poor because we possess a poverty mindset or mentality. Until we are prepared and willing to change or deal with our poverty mentality, our quest to become prosperous will be farfetched. Are you a part of the poor folks who are held down by their poverty mentality? Do you usually think that it is difficult to make money these days? That’s poverty mentality! Do you have a strong belief that you will never be able to make money because of your circumstances or background? That’s poverty mentality! Are you always afraid or scared stiff to take any business risk or make a career change? That’s poverty mentality! The good news is that you can transform your poverty mentality into a prosperity mentality! Yes, you can!
Stop thinking poverty, rather think prosperity. You are what you think, in the light of the passage under review. When you think of prosperity, an unusual divine ability is bestowed upon you to crush poverty. Do you know you can hate poverty from your mental realm? And by so doing, you will attract prosperity.
Let’s consider 3 ways to deal with poverty mentality:
1. Association
Associating with the rich can help you change your poverty mentality.
The Bible tells us that if we walk with the wise, we will become wise. So also, if we walk with the rich, our mentality will change favourably towards prosperity. Don’t forget, Saul kept company with prophets and the Spirit of God came upon him to prophesy!
(1 Samuel 10:10)
3. Belief
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23)
The easiest way to deal with a poverty mentality is to believe you can change your mind over anything! With faith all things are possible, and this includes mentality transformation! With faith or belief, you can overcome your poverty mentality. The Bible says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1John 5:4)
Faith remains our overcoming instrument. If we can overcome the world via our faith, we can much more overcome our poverty mentality!
3. Exposure
Being stuck in your poor environment will not help you to change your poverty mentality! You sure need exposure. Take a trip to a rich neighbourhood and feed your mind with rich stuff.
Some time ago I took some of my youths to Park View Estate and Banana Island, the exclusive rich axis of Lagos for an excursion. I aimed to give them exposure and to help them have a change of mentality. The trip helped them to alter their mind toward prosperity. Many of them who were formally held down in poverty mentality secured their freedom.
I decree an end to any poverty mentality that has held you down over the years in Jesus’ mighty name!
Yours sincerely,
