Learning from the Ants

“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:” (Pro 6:6)
In my deep cogitation, I wondered why God had to ask a man to learn from the ant. No doubt, the ant is one of the smallest creatures of God, but the Creator has loaded it with many effective qualities that most humans do not possess. Do you know that when it comes to hard work or responsibility, ants are giants? Ants are hardworking creatures! If you care to watch what they do or watch their incredible operations, you will learn many qualities from them. Let’s consider 3 qualities that define ants:

1. The quality of Self-supervision!
   “Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,” (Pro 6:7)
   Ants have no ruler, no boss, and no leader, yet they know how to conduct or self supervise themselves. Each knows what to do, and goes ahead to do it. Your ability to self-supervise yourself is a very crucial quality if you want to command results in today’s workplace. Like ants, decide to perform your assigned duties without a supervisor or team leader telling you what to do. For goodness sake, why must you be reminded to do your job or to regularly and punctually be in the office?
2. The quality of right timing!
   “Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.”
   (Pro 6:8)
   Do you know that summer is their season of food gathering? Ants know that summer is the right season to gather, preserve or save their food for the rainy day! They also know that winter is the season to eat that which they had saved during summer. How many of us have a sense of saving? Few, of course!
3. The quality of diligence
   “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.” (Pro13:4)
   Ants are not lazybones! They are great workers! They are hyper diligent!
   Diligence remains God’s veritable principle for outstanding living. It is an indefatigable pathway, method or strategy for wealth creation. If you despise the principle of diligence, you are disconnecting yourself from the power of wealth. The Bible says, “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” (Proverbs 10:4)
   Until you are prepared to work hard like the ants, you are not ready to add value to your existence!
   I pray that you will put to practice all the lessons you have learnt from these little creatures in Jesus’ mighty name.
