“And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.”
Genesis 14:14
What is training? According to Wikipedia, “Training is teaching or developing in oneself or others, any skills and knowledge or fitness that relate to specific useful competencies. Training has specific goals of improving one’s capability, capacity, productivity and performance.”
The value or worth of training cannot be overemphasised! As we can deduce from this passage under review that Abraham armed his trained servants or personnel to combat his enemy forces. You can’t be armed to face life contests or challenges if you are not properly trained. It’s a known fact that champions don’t become champions in the ring – they are merely recognized there. Boxing is a good analogy for training because it is all about daily and consistent preparation. Training must be consistent. It is not a one-off thing! No! What you do consistently gets you better and ready. A basket legend, Larry Bird became an outstanding free-throw shooter by practising 500 shots each morning before he went to school.
The secret to success in life and career development is for you to be ready and prepared to undergo training. Our God is a skilful trainer. He instructed or taught David how to fight. The Bible says,
“He teacheth my hands to war so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.”
Psalm 18:34
It takes a trained fighter to break a bow of steel!

I decree and declare that you will place value on training forthwith in Jesus’ mighty name!
Yours sincerely,
